Already many years big fan of independant watchmaking, with on top of my list Roger W Smith of course.
Today I was lucky enough to visit Roger's workshop on Isle of Men!
What a great experience. Enjoyed all from the beginning (TT course by taxi to workshop till lunch with Roger)
Was happy to see what a young team he has working for him!
Did not take any picture of the workshop but at the end was able to see all watches, from series 1 to 4 including the open dial.
Have an open dial in order, but man - in real 1000 times better then picture (the 3D feel is amazing).
And the Series 1 in yellow gold is to die for as well.
Thanks to Roger, Caroline and the staff for the visit! And once again congrats with the result of the watches (this is defintely the best of the best).

Does anyone know if Roger's new movements have moved to an oil-free escapement? The Millenium series with George Daniels (and based on the Omega 2500) used oil as a shock absorber, as did Omega co-axials (I imagine their all silicon escapements have moved...

I personally like Smith's work. I wished his movement finishing would be more pronounced; particularly anglage. It's a real treat to get a factory tour like that!
One day my turn will come!
