Already many years big fan of independant watchmaking, with on top of my list Roger W Smith of course. Today I was lucky enough to visit Roger's workshop on Isle of Men! What a great experience. Enjoyed all from the beginning (TT course by taxi to worksho...  

Does anyone know if Roger's new movements have moved to an oil-free escapement? The Millenium series with George Daniels (and based on the Omega 2500) used oil as a shock absorber, as did Omega co-axials (I imagine their all silicon escapements have moved... 

I can only imagine the beautiful human contact with such an great artist.

I personally like Smith's work. I wished his movement finishing would be more pronounced; particularly anglage. It's a real treat to get a factory tour like that!

I can see it is something quite special and memorable. Thank you for your post.
