Pascal Coyon 1st and 2d generations.

The first has the advantage of its dial, which is much more my taste than the too flat ( at least in my opinion ) second:

The first:

The Second generation:

As for the movement, it is a tie, here, once again for me. Some would prefer the more decorated movement of the second generation, I must say I am attracted by the simplicity of the first generation. Objectively, it is a tie. I would be happy with any of them.

The first:

The second generation:

Now, the cases.

The first generation is less my taste: Bigger, less refined, should I say... Basic?... I much prefer the more elegant and refined second generation, here. On another side, I prefer the crown of the first generation, and the hands, too.

Some side by side photos will help to illustrate my feelings.

The ideal for me would be the dial and the crown of the first generation, in the case of the second generation, whatever is the movement I would have.

You?

Best,

Nicolas

I am expecting my second generation Coyon

Some time this year. My dial will be a cloisonné enamel dial made by Donze and an homage to the old Art Deco IWC dials. It will be cased in platinum. I have yet to decide on the hand design. ...

I can’t wait either!

Promises to be great, good idea!

And amazing dial, the outcome should be crazy awesome, I can’t wait to see see it!

And the rest of the first?

If Pascal Coyon kickstarted a new wave of independent French watchmaking. Excited to see what comes out of France in the coming years, from Coyon and hopefully others.

Si, si, consigliere

I will do it.

Between the two pictured I really prefer the dial, numerals and especially the gorgeous Breguet hands of the first gen.

But I believe the case size, which is >40mm is outside of my preferred size for a three hand dress watch.

Replace the 1st hand with the 2d hands. The

Crown could stay. No certain whether I would upgrade the cosmetic finish on the first.

+1! (nt)

As Cozmo pointed out, custom hands and dials are possible. I have an idea I'll share when it is ready.

You can treat the dial of this watch as a blank slate

Almost any customization is possible. He is working with Metalem and Donze.

Wow they both look stunning!

The movement architecture….

 By: Andy_Mac : January 5th, 2022-22:58
….on on both is lovely. The chronometer regulation a cherry on top. Happy with either movement, but then case 2 with a customised dial that somehow complements those hands, which I also like a lot.

That white enamel dial makes me weak

Here are some recent dials, have you seen all these, Nico?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : January 5th, 2022-23:57
The first is my favorite. ...

Marvellous 👏…

 By: Andy_Mac : January 6th, 2022-06:05
…all lovely in their own style. I wonder what no2 would look like with maybe slightly bigger numerals? For my old eyes!

Great review of two great watches
