Normally i’d agree but i’d make an exception to this one..

 

It picks up on the design elements of the porsche that they raced in. The number 40 is the number of the car as its displayed on the doors so it kinda makes sense that they’d put it on the dial as one would in a race car.. outside for all to see. So if we view the watch as a homage to their race car, it arguably gets a pass.

Now contrast that with the 40th anniversary Patek with the 40 on the dial that caused quite a ruckus in this forum. I think a lot of us preferred to not see that on the dial smile
