Independents

There are, basically, four mainstream manufacturers dominating my collection of watches. Those four are Rolex, Patek Philippe, JLC and Omega. Across those four, I find my bases are covered. Have I ever considered going maverick with one of the independent...  

All of the Gronefeld Remontoire watches are gorgeous, but that dial is the best in my eyes. Go for it. M4

I also think that it makes sense for a collector of Patek and Rolex to look at something like this.

Like you, I got mesmerized by this blue creation! I had the privilege to enjoy it on my wrist for most of our dinner... A real pleasure! Will come back to this watch once I have sorted all my impressions from the weekend and also had a chance to work the ... 

yet as I look at the movement I see too many odd bits, linkages, etc. -- unrecognizable stuff which adds up to a bit more visual chaos than I would prefer but YMMV (your movement may vary). This movement is more my style: Cazalea ...  

What an amazing watch. For me, the email dial with black and red was tops, but the blue one is incredible.

The Remontoire is an incredible watch: very innovative from the horological point of view, simply fascinating to look at (dial side and movement side), so well finished, so rare, well definitely a very attractive option . And on top of all these qualities...

I don't think you can find anything more beautiful in jumping seconds. Probably even one of the most beautiful movement regardless of type of complications.

I would personally be reluctant to put money into a relatively small production manufacturer, but I guess that's how FPJ started out and now look at how sort after his watches are. I don't know enough about Gronefeld so I might be way wide of the mark in ... 

......i have handled a few independents. Some of them just feel like something made by Lego. Others feel like made by Swatch. The Gronefeld feels like top drawer quality. I am used to wearing Rolex, Patek, JLC......and to me I want quality finishing with ... 

will be a good first independent...it has a spectacular dial and an even more impressive back side which showcases it’s breathtaking movement. ...  

I keep eyeing the 1941. I absolutely love the Movement, the dials, and the remonroire. I've never seen one in person, I hope to change that in the coming months. Post pics if you pick one up, I'd love to see more

There are so many good choices. The Light Blue Guilloche, the Custom Kari Dials, the Standard Salamon. I wish I could see them all in person, I need to stop by an AD and see what is in stock, the closest is several hours drive.

One of the best value proposition in watches. The case back is glorious!
