with unpolished bevels in the lower part of the mainplate. I mean with the vibrations of the machine instead of polished or even softened. That was a "surprise" to me. I had an early Simplicity on the bench and I was rather shocked that the wheel train was the JLC original one, without any finishing. I understand that once a wheel has been plated, it is a pain to play with, but still... There were tiny scratches there and there, but I'd say regarding this that the standard at that time was to look through the standard magnification (eye piece). And it was looking great. But today, that'd be a fail IMO. Mainplate and gear train is an all-time fail, again, IMO.
And I don't thik his daughter was involved at that time.
I do agree on with you on the AdC pallet fork though.
