BaselWorld 2014 - Kari Voutilainen
Kari always knows to amaze.
Let's start with the Tourbillon-6. This is a new tourbillon using Kari's double direct impulse escapement. Note the size of the tourbillon cage, at 14mm almost half the diameter of the dial, which made it necessary to place the hands off center to have room. The finishing is, as always, glowing. The dial made in house on a rose engine.
The Hisui watch shines through the dial and bridge
decoration done by the Japanese lacquering studio Unryuan. The main raw
materials for this decoration are the shell of a marine snail, the
great green turban, and abalone shell. Particularly intensely colored
regions are cut out of the shells and then used for this mosaic
decoration. The result is stunning, as you can see.
The movement itself is again in German silver and uses the Voutilainen double direct impulse escapement.
Thank you

Thank you Don for the post and lovely photos. Kari goes from strength to strength! His movements and the quality of the finishing are second to none. To own a timepiece from his manufacture should be on the list of every true connosieur.
Thank you Don

As always, Kari never fail to amaze me with movement finish and this time with this rather unseen treatment of the bridges in both tourbillon and Hisui artpiece. The greyish finish adds contemporary color to the traditional KV finish and I wonder what exa...
