Absolutely fascinating!
Ken, what a great article!
It was awesome when Mr. Asaoka knew your avatar! LOL! That cracked me up.
His watches are utterly fascinating to me. I particularly want to see the model with the extra-large balance wheel. The movement layout is so intriguing and just very different from everything else out there. I have huge respect for the fact that he is a self-trained watchmaker, and that he is making so many of the machines and watch components himself! The videos you included in the post were very educational.
The best part of the article for me was when he talked about stainless steel cases and how he thought stainless steel was a great material for watches. I totally agree! I also liked his idea about simplifying the number of parts in a movement. A man after my own heart.
I am so looking forward to seeing these watches in the metal, and following Mr. Asaoka's career. He is one watchmaker who deserves our attention IMO!
Cheers,
Daos

Thanks for the article. I enjoy it tremendously. I could almost hear myself calling it the Japanese "Simplicity". Amazing accomplishment. A few comments if I may. 1) The dial design and features are very beautiful. Much better and way less boring/bland th...
