A success, with some reservations
It's fantastic to see an MB&F watch that is designed for comfortable wear, clocking with a modest diameter and manageable case thickness. It's more accessible, without being more affordable. The movement finishing on the rear could be better, and I wish movement finishing on expensive, low production watches was simply done to the high standards of yesteryear, without testing if the client and the media will notice when it is dialed back.
MB&F is a leader in Independent watchmaking. A few interior angles on the rear, where the corners were rounded, would have made a statement that cutting corners in finishing is not today's expectation. This is tacit approval to all Independents to follow in the footsteps of the industrial giants like Patek. If collectors who buy do not care, we'll see a lower standard across watches that are priced close to six figures.
