I think all movements are suseptible to shock. If Daniels is more I hope someone can comment on why.
On the drawing see the silver colored object on the top of the jewel? That piece of metal and one at the other end put pressure on the jewel keeping the wheel in place. The metal has spring in it so when the watch is moved or hit against something the spring in the metal absorbs some of the force of the hit. This is the "shock absorbing" function. I have the same type setup in my Explorer.
