With film there is ("was" for most people) more motivation to understand the basics, what works because every time you press the shutter button you hear a cash register going chi-ching!
There's a lot of shotgun theory going on with digital. Take 30 pics and keep the 3 that are good, but to progress you have to try to remember what light conditions and technique was on the good ones. One big thing is to pay attention to the quality and direction of light.

Exactly: it took me quite some time to learn how to use the 14 properly for watch photography.
The 12 was way easier. But 14 and 15 Pros can make very beautiful shots once you understand how to really take advantage of them.
