1. GRAND SEIKO

Sometimes a good Dress Watch can make an impression.......?

IF YOU WERE SITTING AT A TABLE......
and spied an interesting watch on the man opposite you.....
Which watch would make you change seats to get a closer view and perhaps engage the wearer in 'Watch Talk'????
IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW....?

NO...... WAIT ✋✋✋

Times have changed.......
These days, many don't even HAVE a Dress Watch and prefer to wear their 'Sports' or 'Tool' watches to ALL occasions....
Formal doesn't mean what it used to....
Today we have outdoor Weddings, on beaches even.
Today we go to dance parties where the guys and gals are dressed to the Tee.
Today we party on yachts with nary a shirt or jacket to be seen....?

Who would look askance at a Daytona, Submariner, Royal Oak, Nautilus, Aquanaut, Overseas et al, worn to a formal event?
And once we invite Chronometers and Sports watches to this competition.......
ALL BETS ARE OFF......

Is that a Paul Newman 'Paul Newman' DAYTONA on that guy with the model dripping off his arm....?
I've NEVER seen one in the 'wild'.......
Surely it's a 'Fake' 🤥

16. PAUL NEWMAN DAYTONA

And what about that 'Tool' wearing an obviously fake modern DAYTONA.....?

17. FAKE DAYTONA

I think I'll ignore him......👀

#1 is very interesting. What is the ref? I haven't seen many guilloche grand seiko. The vc patrimony traditionnelle is one of my all time favorites. Thanks for sharing

Thanks....

It's the SBGY003....And it's not guilloche. GS have developed amazing techniques for dial construction and finishing as I'm sure you know and this dial undergoes up to 17 stages of construction and finishing ...

For me I’d be interested in…

The Grand Seiko, Moser, Credor, and Louis Erard. Perhaps even the Cellini. My reasoning is that there’s a good chance the owner will be a watch person and all those watches are interesting to me. You have a wonderful collection though, they all have their...

Great takman....

Because I have seen those dials being made, and that's a rare beast worth talking about (of course about 10 others attracted me too, but you asked for one). Cazalea ...

Great contribution….

Thanks for those photos… You’re indeed one of the luckiest amongst us to have witnessed this process…. And you’re right… It IS worth talking about 🤯

. . . actually saw a Newman in the wild. And to make the tale even more impressive, she didn't know how valuable it was. I'll try to have Scott tell the tale here. ...
