turtletone, i think its best left as it is. i
suppose it did show you what goes into a working movement even if the
tin used wasnt of the normal quality.

an escapement and hairspring have to work so
inspecting the one you've got cant do you any harm, you can see how its all put
together.

 
i had the same flying part problem years ago,
but mine was a Wakmann triple date chrono from the 60's. it would now be a
fairly valuable piece. a Breitling in all but name. living and learning all
costs money :)

 
i'd buy an old swiss handwind to take apart as
the rotor mechanism is only a few parts on top.
