Tony, you are 100% correct(as you know). when i
collected purely Omegas i had all the 'important' quartz watches like
Timecomputer, chronoquartz, marine chronometer, beta 21 electroquartz , all
the olympic models, thinking that i should have them in a complete and rounded
brand collection, but i never wore them so they have all gone while they still
work.
luckily never had a problem with batteries for Time
Computer, marine chronometer was serviced ok, but one day none of them will be
serviceable or repairable so anyones 'investment' will go down the pan into
scrap steel.
i dont regret owning them as its a learning curve
and has taught me that mechanical is best.
i remember one of my first posts was to a young
lady asking whether to buy a quartz or mechanical omega. i immediately went for
mech, but she wasnt convinced because of perceived accuracy and i think went for
quartz. effectively a $10 watch in a $2000 case. not worth the
money.
