Horological Meandering

Sorry to say this vendzilla but to throw away and swear

off a brand that you've loved for 7 years (2 years past the warranty) over $140 is pretty extreme don't you think?

Did Citizen exaggerate on their marketing?  Perhaps, but you got pretty good use out of your eco-drive.  While I empathize with your complaint I think you are being unrealistic...There is no such thing as a quartz watch that will last forever.

If $140 maintence cost is too high when compared to a replacement perhaps you should look towards a Casio G-Shock.  These will "take a lickin' and keep on tickin' " and depending on the model a new battery will cost you 35-50$.

One word of advice...don't buy a mechanical watch if servicing costs aggrevate you.  I know plenty of enthusiasts who pay quite a bit of money to upkeep their  timepieces and still face mechanical issues.
