off a brand that you've loved for 7 years (2 years past the warranty) over $140 is pretty extreme don't you think?
Did Citizen exaggerate on their marketing? Perhaps, but you got pretty good use out of your eco-drive. While I empathize with your complaint I think you are being unrealistic...There is no such thing as a quartz watch that will last forever.
If $140 maintence cost is too high when compared to a replacement perhaps you should look towards a Casio G-Shock. These will "take a lickin' and keep on tickin' " and depending on the model a new battery will cost you 35-50$.
One word of advice...don't buy a mechanical watch if servicing costs aggrevate you. I know plenty of enthusiasts who pay quite a bit of money to upkeep their timepieces and still face mechanical issues.
