Years ago, when we were hesitating whether to open a Hublot forum, JCB invited me to a private meeting at Baselworld.
He wanted to know how we could make it happen.
With consummate prowess, he identified the issues, figured out the solution, executed his plan and achieved his goals.
My hesitancy was the direction of Hublot which was touted as a "the art of fusion" but it wasn't clear to the watch collectors what that meant.
He shared with me (in confidence) his 5-year plan for new models from Hublot and a few pieces of cheese later, we were in business!
When we opened the Hublot forum, it met with some resistance, especially from the fans of Audemars Piguet. I could not reveal the actual watch models but had to encourage our readers to remain open minded for the future.
I have to say that over the years, every one of the projects and complications came true and more besides...…
I will miss his daily onion chopping but I'm confident that the soup will still turn out delicious at the end of each day.
Best wishes and Happy BIRFDAY... JCB!
Regards,
MTF
