The Internet has been important ...
I had an interest in mechanical things, including watches, that went back to my childhood. I had a couple of general books on the history of watchmaking on the bookshelf since the early 1990's, but it wasn't until I discovered watch magazines 10 years ago, and the on-line watch forums about 7 years ago that things really took off for me. I didn't realize there was such a network of passionate collectors out there, so the Internet has certainly allowed that connection to happen and for the interest to blossom.

My first mechanical watch was a Seiko Kinetic in the year 1993-4, i think... Still did not pay too much attention to that... once I saw the Lange 1, it was love and thats how the horology bug has bitten me, and I never looked back since... Cheers, GG

Is when I first started to recognize a nice watch. Something I picked up from my father. Was not until college that I saved up for my first "real" watch (omega speed master). Not until the past few years did I start studying watches.

I first became interested in mechanical watches when I played with my late grandfather's non-functioning manually wound watch movement that had popped out of its case. I don't recall what brand it was (as I was ~8 years old) but I remember be very taken b...
