During the pocket watch era firms like Patek Philippe, VC, AP did not make their own complications, they bought ebauches from specialty suppliers. Repeaters were more common than calendars back then. There were both high and low-grade repeaters; I've seen unadjusted repeaters with as low as 7 jewels.
I’m always a bit disappointed that fashion brands are allowed to just
buy into haute horologie. To me the repeater is the pinnacle of watch making savior faire. And LV just buys one and slaps their logo on it.

It's extremely detailed, pictures came lite. We all know that the (abused) term of in-house has become deceitful. NDA is the common practice, there are only few brands like MB&F that freely describe if there's any outsourced part.
Brands are way more transparent now than they used to be!

Independents Vs big brands
Today is hard, almost impossible to hide the truth. Social media are mostly a ruin, but at least the knowledgeable ones like you can spread revealing comparisons that can't be manipulated.
