Those authors are, in my opinion some of the best that the U.K. has to offer in terms of my personal favourites. I’d go with Hilary Mantel as my number one (Wolf Hall’s language is sublime in how it flits from thought to speech, especially in the beginnin... 

I have a soft spot for McEwan; I’ve read the most of his works except for the recent novels. Definitely in agreement about Mantel: lightning in a bottle! She is so good. Well maybe if I still have my wits next time, I can create a similar thread with the ...
