Sorry, this is a poor example for a good reissue ...

I was highly dispaoointed when I realized that Longines failed the decent investment to incorporate the rotating fluted bezel with the typical red arrow marker under the crystal. On the original watch, the whole crystal is rotated together with the marker, and Breitling proves since more than a decade, how it is possible to make such arrangements water tight.

Timefactors/Precista managed to offer a really nice Czech Air Force reissue, without date, but with the rotating inner marker and watertight to 30meters, for a fraction of the price that Longines charges.

Sorry, it is not my normal style to criticize a watch that somebody else acquired and is fond of, but in this case I think the current Longines policy of slapping together some more or less standard components in order to make a "reissue" of a historical timepiece has not brought a good result.

Longines is one of them IMHO. I just add this one to my collection and I love it. Some thing the date destroy it and there was not a date at the original version. But to me it's ok with the date. "> This message has been edited by Jocke on 2015-05-27 11:0...

The date is a spoiler, for me. No way. And the auto movement instead of this nice manual

Movement too... A pity, because for the rest, that was a great idea. Best, Nicolas

I can understand how you reason and I can buy it too but I guess that Longines try to keep the price down and not try to do a watch with too difficult solutions of complications. Furthermore, probably the purpose of paying tribute to the model than to mak...

in my book. Zodiac just did the same thing with their re-issue of the Sea Wolf. Still not a bad-looking watch, but in the case, the re-issue is not on par with the original. Darren

I am relatively favorable to the reissue, acknowledging

that as one who loves the original, this is perhaps faint praise. I am no expert, but it seems that Longines under current ownership has done a pretty decent job (at least from a commercial standpoint) of introducing its fabulous heritage to current watch...

Congratulations, Jocke!

It's a nice piece, and I look forward to seeing further photos from you featuring it. While I wish Longines would stop with the date displays on their historic line, I realize there must be a segment of buyers who demand it. Perhaps the "watch muggles" as...
