An excellent comparison, and many thanks ... but why do you conclude this design is risky? One would have to examine and compare the mechanisms in detail to determine any similarities, of course, but surely as a concept this is more a case of resurrecting an old idea? IWC built (pocket) watches with a jumping digital display in 1885 using the Pallweber design, and two Germans (Thommen and Duerrstein) had competing patents in Germany at the same time. If memory serves, A. Lange built some watches using the Duerrstein patent.
