Retained value or resale value is never the primary consideration for me when I buy a watch but it's one third of my regret moments. There are three stars that when aligned should result
in buying (assuming you can afford it). 1, You really love the watch. 2, You have been offered a great deal. 3 It's VERY likely to hold or even increase in value over time. Two examples for me are a white dial El Primero
powered Daytona and an Omega Speedmaster Tin Tin. Both were new and offered from authorized dealers for list price. For a few reasons I regret not buying the Omega more, a big one was that it had already been out of production for years and the offer was at the list price back when it was a current piece. I don't flip watches for profit. Loving the watch is more important than retained value but it's difficult to ignore.
