Patek Philippe Nautilus...
When I was still a kid, in my teens - I thought that a Rolex Submariner would be a great watch. It was robust, reliable, all the right attributes one would want in a watch. But a family member suggested I look at the Patek Philippe Nautilus - and I found it strange looking. I thought, "why does it have ears?" I didn't like the design and I didn't understand the design. I thought the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was the best looking watch - and I always planned on buying a Reverso as my first watch. Then, one day in my young adult life, I tried on the Nautilus. The slimness, the elegance, and that micro-rotor movement immediately resonated. And presto, that became my first watch. Didn't get the Reverso until nearly 10 years later!
