ORIS BaselWorld 2012 Collections
Recently Swiss Prestige Pte Ltd -Singapore, a subsidiary of ORIS organised a media event to showcase some of its BaselWorld 2012 Collection.
Before a recap of the afternoon session, a brief about ORIS. ORIS was founded in 1904 and the 110-people strong company has been privately owned by the
board members and the management since the buy-out in 1982. Ever since 1985, the company has been producing mechanical watches till now.
As of last year update, the revenues by Continent are : Europe 33%, Asia 55%, America 9%, Oceania 2%, Africa 1% (2011).
Their product lines are housed in groups, or in ORIS term, ORIS Four Worlds of culture, diving, aviation and motor sport.

This is the ORIS Chet Baker Limited Edition ( LE to 1929 pieces, the birth year of Baker) joining the previous Bob Dylan Edition.
It includes a mechanical metronome which is useful for those who love and play music.
Diameter 40mm in steel. Black dial with Baker's signature and the caseback is engraved with the siloutte of Chef Baker.
Within is an automatic movement ORIS Cal 733 (based on SW200).

The latest addition is the ORIS Artix GT Chronograph ...
Diameter 44mm steel case with an ETA 7750. The small second at 9H is modified by ORIS to be sort of a linear retrograde, which was inspired by the RPM counter of racing car.
Rotating bezel is of black ceramic inlay.
Available with rubber strap or bracelet.
A similar construction with for the time-only with date function - ORIS Artix GT Day Date. Diameter 42mm.
A new rendition of the ORIS TT 1.
Oris TT1 Chronograph, 45mm diameter. with Oris 674, base ETA 7750.
For the Divers, the 2012 has three versions :
1) ORIS Kittiwake LE - Diameter 49mm , limited to 500 pieces. Containing automatic movement SW220
2) ORIS Tubbataha LE - Diameter 46mm, limited to 2000 peices. Automatic movement Cal 749 based on SW220
3) ORIS Aquis Titan Chronograph Diameter 46mm with ETA 7750.
The Aquis Titan is of two materials - titanium Grade 2 case with scratch-resistant Tungsten inlay of the bezel.
New Diver with titanium casing.
Oris Aquis, 36mm steel case with white ceramic bezel. Though it has a chic colour theme, it is made to withstand 30 Bar or 300m.
Screw-in crown. Hands and hour-indexes are coated with SuperLuminova.
Has option of rubber strap or bracelet.

While I am a super fan of Chet Baker, both on the saxophone and his singing, the artist was known for constantly hocking his saxophone for his drug habit. I can't imagine what he would have done with a nice wrist watch...
