No, I wouldn’t see it as a replacement. The VII for me is far more wearable and in most cases more under the radar so side by side I’d still go VII.

But I’ve always loved the ZW, hence me trying it on year after year after year. It’d be nice to have both !
The Frog seems to find that balance on the Horological Machines between wearability and the unique design the HM’s have. It’s just enough “out there”, while still being bake to get away with it day to day I think.
The issue as always is $$$. Something must go for either of these two to be a reality. And when I look around I see a few pieces whose worth today far exceed their intrinsic values and it does make me think perhaps it’s time for part ways and replace with something of more weight.

Are there watches you keep coming back to? Here are mine!

Do you have watches you keep trying on? Have you made any of these part of your collection? Any that haven't made it yet? I made it to a boutique to keep the ritual alive! Here is the specific dial and metal of Day-Date 40mm I keep coming back to. 2021 wi...

Day date looks great

And those breguets are beautiful

Many thanks, I think so, too!

That GO is a classic and a perfect daily wearer, enjoy!

I think the Day-Date and the Breguet blue enamel will eventually join my collection!

Both classic!

the blue dial tourbillon is simply amazing

i love that version of the day date platinum

I gave in last year, 2019, and bought 1. It's part of my daily rotation. I think if you bought it earlier, you get more discount? My AD does not discount much with Rolex whereas before I remember they do for not fast moving items.

I'm glad you like it!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : December 12th, 2020-17:25
I think you're right that discounts were higher before.

No doubt about that!😉

I would not have suspected the DD to be on your list.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 12th, 2020-18:46
But it’s a looker for sure. I’ve been eyeing a HM3 Frog for several years. But it’s not exactly something I can see with any regularity. In terms of pieces that one can actually see and get on the wrist I would say I’ve tried the WG Zeitwerk on at least a...

Interesting. Do you see the Zeitwerk as a potential replacement for your VII?

 By: BigAppleBill : December 12th, 2020-19:31
Or are you looking to expand that novelty category in your collection? And BTW, I think the HM3 Frog is one of MB&F’s best pieces. In a way I could see it complimenting your Urwerk.

No, I wouldn’t see it as a replacement. The VII for me is far more wearable and in most cases more under the radar so side by side I’d still go VII.

I'm finding Rolex has a strange satisfaction in wearing which seems equal to any for me. A surprise to be sure and maybe signals a cap on my collection as I possibly move to wearing it full time...!

The WG Zeitwerk would make a fantastic daily piece for you. May I ask what the reasons are (you can email me if it's private)? The HM3 Frog is a real statement piece, not too much else like it! Super fun!

Totally agree with you re the satisfaction comment, that’s why I keep coming back to Rolex.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 13th, 2020-05:35
I guess the surprise to me was based on the fact that your tastes lean heavily towards the classic (from what I see). And so while the President is not such an odd choice, it’s more in line with that classic taste than a Sub for sure, I thought for sure y...

I agree that the Day Date Platinum in that configuration is the best one.

Literally a heavy hitter. Very tempting.

Very Tempting!

I love guilloché and this is oddly the closest to that in a Rolex for me.

I’ve looked at this one many times

And just saw the new 70 piece steel version ...

i love Parmigiani

 By: shafran : December 13th, 2020-02:22

Nice pair of Watches !

What is the reference of your Breguet?

5817st

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : December 13th, 2020-07:27

Indeed, thanks! 👍🏻

Your Breguet Marine is my favorite.

I tried on the Tradition but felt it was too large for my wrist. ...

It does look good on your wrist!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : December 13th, 2020-07:28

A glorious looking watch!

By: COUNT DE MONET : December 13th, 2020-10:21

I would jump on the DD now

 By: watch-er : December 13th, 2020-06:19
while its there. You never know when the AD will get another one with that dial with supplies the way they are.

Thanks, I've waited too long!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : December 13th, 2020-07:28

Both of these are gorgeous!
