My Timex has been flawless
The only complaints I've heard were that some movements may not be properly lubricated at assembly and could wear earlier than a well-lubricated watch.
Given the inexpensive price, not a big deal to me and not necessarily a widespread problem. Seagull is building some pretty high quality movements these days. Your call on this.
Something from China?

My thoughts are most likely similar to yours, something from China. It seems a lot of affordable brands like Timex, Fossil, Armitron, etc. are once again using "automatic movements" and I would bet they are nothing to exotic. Just my opinion, Mark V
