Horological Meandering

I just saw  this Star Trek watch, whose source I cannot find:

Any thoughts on what the movement might be?

My thoughts are most likely similar to yours, something from China. It seems a lot of affordable brands like Timex, Fossil, Armitron, etc. are once again using "automatic movements" and I would bet they are nothing to exotic.

That looks like realistic value for an Automatic with clear-back.

Are you going to give one a try?

China is so far in front of the rest of the world on quality at the moment.... that one day most people will look around and ask... "What Happened!"

With CBS on it... it might even be a collectors item one day.

mechanical, or low grade ETA?  I may get one just for the conventions, although I wonder how well the movement can be regulated.

I think we can assume it is Chinese Made.

It hase "China Movement" engrved on the back...

But Hey..... Boeing  aircraft now make wing flight controls in China....

Chek this out....

If China can make aircraft parts for Boeing.... they can make a watch for me.... and at that price... I wont claim warranty if it fails.

"Dreamliner" aircraft's rudder made in China

Chinese aircraft manufacturers played an important role in the production of the Boeing 787 "Dreamliner". The first "Dreamliner" aircraft's rudders, fuselage fairing and leading edge of the vertical tail, were all made in China. At the end of last year, the Harbin Aircraft Industrial (Group) Company, the HaFei Group, was officially recognized as the world's sole supplier for Boeing 787 fuselage fairing; and it will take the responsibility of supplying these products from 2007 to 2021. On February 2nd of this year, HaFei's first Boeing 787 fuselage fairing was delivered to the Boeing Company.

Boeing has also signed a production contract for Boeing 787 composite material rudders, 737 aircraft front boarding gates, and automatic emergency exits on aircraft wings, with the Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co.LTD.(CAC), of China's Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I). At the end of last month, the world's first Boeing 787 aircraft rudder was completed by the CAC and was delivered to the American Boeing company. This rudder is now the largest civilian aircraft composite material part produced by China. It is 10.7 meters long and 3 meters wide.

The company looks like a real downer after reading those reviews.

I'm torn between buying an AP Grande Complication or something with a Seagull ST2540

Not necessarily a bad thing - I have a Timex with a very sturdy (and accurate) Seagull movement.

I get the movement regulated,  maybe replaced, or leave it as it?

if it is inaccurate, being a Star Track watch, you could always get Scotty to beam you to a geographic location where it's time is true

The only complaints I've heard were that some movements may not be properly lubricated at assembly and could wear earlier than a well-lubricated watch.
Given the inexpensive price, not a big deal to me and not necessarily a widespread problem. Seagull is building some pretty high quality movements these days. Your call on this.

for USD160, it is no brainer for a skeletonised movement watch.  At least, it is cheaper than a lot of quartz watches.
