Horological Meandering

I just saw this Star Trek watch, whose source I cannot find: http://www.amazon.com/Armitron-Men-2019s-Automatic-Silver-Tone-890004/dp/B002JPK0X6 Any thoughts on what the movement might be?

My thoughts are most likely similar to yours, something from China. It seems a lot of affordable brands like Timex, Fossil, Armitron, etc. are once again using "automatic movements" and I would bet they are nothing to exotic. Just my opinion, Mark V

Hi Ronald, That looks like realistic value for an Automatic with clear-back. Are you going to give one a try? China is so far in front of the rest of the world on quality at the moment.... that one day most people will look around and ask... "What Happene... 

mechanical, or low grade ETA? I may get one just for the conventions, although I wonder how well the movement can be regulated.

Hi Ronald, I think we can assume it is Chinese Made. It hase "China Movement" engrved on the back... But Hey..... Boeing aircraft now make wing flight controls in China.... Chek this out.... If China can make aircraft parts for Boeing.... they can make a ...

I'm torn between buying an AP Grande Complication or something with a Seagull ST2540 Just being a little facitious. There have been many discussions about Seagull movements on other forums. It may be frowned upon to post those links here. but if you PM me... 

Not necessarily a bad thing - I have a Timex with a very sturdy (and accurate) Seagull movement.

I get the movement regulated, maybe replaced, or leave it as it?

The only complaints I've heard were that some movements may not be properly lubricated at assembly and could wear earlier than a well-lubricated watch. Given the inexpensive price, not a big deal to me and not necessarily a widespread problem. Seagull is ... 

for USD160, it is no brainer for a skeletonised movement watch. At least, it is cheaper than a lot of quartz watches. Regards Ling
