I am a late comer.
My first watch, of good to great importance to my own life, as it begins to mark my own milestones, ups and downs.. was a Seiko of the 1973 type. The 6139 chronograph.
This one is a rendition of a 5139 type, but in Grand Seiko craft.
Looks simple.
But it is a study of philosophy from its use of rounded screw heads to flat heads in carefully chosen places. To allow for headroom when serviced by normal watchmakers or masters.
Its careful use of plexiglass is very intelligent.
Note you can't see the "aperture" where the 3 hands enter the dial.
Go home, and arrange the watches you own into 2 groups...those which allow you to see the aperture, and those that do not.
What are your thoughts?
There is no right answer.
It illustrates one of watch collectings many intellectual planes. Totally.
The flat screws? I caused too much hassle earlier last year.
Enjoy and thanks for being so kind, all of you.
