My first watch ever is not anymore in my possession.
I lost my first watch ever. I was a kid, so losing stuff is normal.
But i had watches as a kid. Presents from grand mother, birthday presents, and i bought watches. In the old days when i was a kid i wear Casio quarts watches with a button which could be pushed in for light
I had not enough money for a swatch, so i was a real Casio kid.
I was even a real fan, so Casio always was my choise.
When i grew older i wear serveral watches. The only important thing was, i must going.
And than a Baume & Mercier came, and a story follow. I thought it was very expensive and my concerns was to let repair it. I thought it was a kind of watch who can be put in the class of Rolex. An expert looked at it, and could not say to me what kind of watch it is.
It was my brothers watch, so i must give the Baume & Mercier back to him. The poor watch disapeard into a drawer, like a grave.
It lost, so i could not take care anymore. Lost into the fields of forever.
But, i set back the time, and desided to rendezvouz with that beautifull Swiss watchmaison. That Genéva proud, that top people who work to manufactor the Baume & Mercier collection for customers all over the world. Put sweat movements into the cases, set nice leather and steal straps on it.
German people in Berlin where devided trough a wall for years. On the east side there was the Baume & Mercier lover, at the west side the Baume & Mercier watch.
I tear down the wall, and bought my Classima in Berlin. A symbol of rendevouz, connected together aigain, and now not the problem of a brother who demands to give his watch back, and negligible a broken sweatheart. It was a handwound.
After the long story i have a strong preffered for the brand. Can i say it is my favorite brand? In many angles it is. I can not life without my Baume & Mercier, so i will not sell it.
Not the most expensive, not a luxury watch like Pattek Phillip, but it is a love. A bond for life, blood in my vains.
I like Longines, but ...... yes again a special story. A grail watch.
At this moment i set my direction to Ulysse Nardin. Interesting maison, nice tourbillon watched from Ulysse Nardin.

Sadly not. I had two first watches.
The one gifted by my Godfather, a timex, for my 7th Xmas, which drove me to watch madness, totally. And my first real watch, bought in 1997, a GMT MASTER 16700. Sadly, I don't own them... Really sad. Best, Nicolas

I no longer have my first watch but I have the first watch my spouse gave me as a gift in 1978. As fate would have it, during the quartz craze she gifted me a mechanical watch that is in need of a new bracelet and servicing. Thanks for reminding me.
