Hi All,
Thanks for your comments; participation is what makes this a great forum.
Several of you have a desire for more technical articles, particularly starting with the basics of watchmaking. I have said before that one of the early strengths of ThePuristS was the balance between the technicality and the art of horology. We have been fortunate to have the participation of watchmakers over the years. Unfortunately your new Moderator in no such person, but I will endeavour to include more technical articles. If anyone wants to choose a topic and post on it, feel free!
In the meantime I will be slowly organising past posts into a Reference Section and will certainly be grouping these more technical posts. Remember you can use the “Forum Search” function to find much of this as well.
For those of you who haven’t heard, can I point out that a new edition of George Daniels classic “Watchmaking” will be released at the end of the year? So if you were looking for the perfect Christmas present for the WIS in your life (that’s you), this could be it.
And you want to see more and better pictures. Personally I would love to have a Watch Photography Forum to share specifics. The logical place would be in combination with the WristScan Forum where we already push our skills each Friday. If we keep this idea in the back of our minds I hope it will come to fruition. Like all forums here, it starts off with an idea and a will to ‘make it so’.
A commentary by various industry leaders and interested Purists is a great idea. We will plant that seed and see how it grows.
And finally we have literally thousands of lurkers (I was one once) who read Purists more or less regularly. If they were to start just one thread each, we would have months of material. So I second Daos’ plea for all to contribute. Just do it!
And thanks again for your interest and support for PuristS in general, and the HoMe Forum.
Andrew
