Judging by recent auction results on Hermes bags, I would
say that the fashion police are (at best) ineffectual or more probably living in a cave in outer Mongolia. The bidding in the room was fierce and intense, and prices went above shop prices and in some cases, beyond the shop prices by an order of magnitude. \Demand is very healthy indeed.
Give Hermes time and the watches will start to attain the same aura. For myself, the Carre H watch they produced in a limited series (picture below) was a masterstroke and sold quickly. Talking with Luc Perramond (CEO La Montre Hermes) at lunch, they have many more plans in the works and a Carre H may yet appear that will be too difficult to resist for yours truly.
Fab watches - and leather straps (fashion police be damned)!
