It was July, after I graduated from high school
I was up on Whidbey Island above Seattle, catching crabs with my friend Bill. It was evening.
(A decade ago I scanned in this picture to remember it. )
A guy with a trailer on the beach shouted “they’ve landed” and we ran over to watch on his 12” b/w TV. After the “one giant leap” bit one old coot said “you know it’s all filmed in a studio in Burbank”. There was a heated debate, we scorned his conspiracy theory, then we want back to fishing.
It felt fantastic.
