It is said that the Devil is the details...

... and I feel this old humble watch I found several years ago is a good example of that saying.
The 35,5 mm gold case may be a little small for today standards I know, but it is a delight to wear it anyway. It’s condition tells it has been worn very little by its previous owner as the original polish is intact.
The dial is brown with cross hairs. It has an strong patina indeed and I’m not sure if it was black originally.
Now let me tell the Devilish details that make it so special to me:
The model is called Polarouter the original name thought by Universal Geneve in the early 1950’s for these watches approved by SAS for their pilots flying the just innaugurated Trans Polar routes between Scandinavia and USA with their Douglas four propeller engine planes.
The model name was changed later to Polerouter.
This is an early example then, built circa 1954 and another detail is the movement caliber 138 SS with a bumper rotor later changed to the more famous microrotor movement of later series.
Another Devilish detail is it is marked Freccero which is the name of a famous retail watch store located in Montevideo, Uruguay (still in operation) official AD of many high end brands including Patek Philippe and among the few shops which had their dials branded with their name.
It’ an interesting watch I feel which makes me smile when I view it on my wrist.
Hope you will like it Friends!
Cheers!
