I saw that same trend with a Breitling Premier that I purchased a couple of years ago.
My feeling is, If brands are going to forgo or save on presentation boxes, I’s rather see them spend the savings on a decent quality travel box. The one provided is good, not great…which is fine, because I have 5-6 extra travels bags. Just thinking outloud.

I do try to enjoy the entire process: the hunt, the box opening and the final reveal. To your point the box gets relegated to a closet and soon forgotten, which is part of the process and shouldn’t spoil the moment. I be putting the WT to test in February...
