. . . but came close some time ago when this immaculate UG chronometer . . .

. . . came up for sale at a price that would be ridiculously low in today's market. An 18 kt solid gold case, and a movement so clean "you could eat off it", as mrsnak so memorably remarked. I passed it up, much to my later regret.
Another UG I'd like to find is one posted by Bernard [log-in: Chronomtr] several years ago . . .

. . . that sings to me on many counts, not least of which being the stacked day and date apertures. Presumably nothing special mechanically, but æsthetically commendable.
