I'm not a watchmaker or a radiation physicist but have had connections to both things for most of my life. If there was a vintage radium dialed watch I wanted the small amount of radium
in it wouldn't stop me from buying it or wearing it occasionally. Having an old watch like that to wear occasionally is a massively different amount of risk compared to twirling a radium soaked brush with your tongue and lips.
Most people frequently get small doses of ionizing radiation in daily life without even realizing it. Doctors and the medical community wouldn't recommend getting imaging done (using radiation) if the benefits didn't outweigh the risks.
