Horological Meandering

Hermano you know...

That I listen to your advice as a teacher, since I admire your good taste and eye for superb pieces.

I must try not to get lost, and as you say, focus on the important pieces, then go for the smaller.

I guess this passion is a mix (sometimes a confusing mix) of it all that you mention.

It is that somehow I feel fond on this brand since it was my father who gave me two of his dearest watches,

the two of them are Midos, one an early Ocean Star Datoday with lugs for the strap and small in size, the FIRST swiss made watch he bought

with his FIRST pay,

and the other a nice and almost pristine Ocean Star Datoday Chronometer, now called Commander, but mine doesn't say "Commander"

It says "Chronometer", I have to search more info, but I guess It's one of the earlier models, since It's not called Commander as newer ones.

It got to me in very good shape since my father tried to change date close to midnight and it got stuck.

He never got it to repair, he just kept it on a drawer, and that's how it got to my hands very clean.

And that's my history with Midos. I will write a post on them someday.

This new (but older) one was in the hands of the seller of the JLC 469/A, so I got them both.

Thanks for your comment and GOOD advice my dear friend.

Have a nice (although cold I think) morning over beautiful Paris.

With my best regards.

René
