I'm glad we share more things other than watches.

BTW I love Thai food,

Maybe some day I'll learn to cook some dishes.

My best regards to you.

René

Tasty, Rene!

Everything looks delicious, including your Mido! ;-)

Instead of Fisher's or DeCrab, I think I will head to your place next time I visit Mexico City!

Un fuerte abrazo,

Alex

ps. Mido is one of my dad's favorite brands, and as such, I have a sweet spot for all of them.

You know my home is yours Alex!

Feel free to come by anytime you want.

Not as cool as the places you mention, humble but made with the heart.

Gracias Amigo!

Un fuerte abrazo.

Some of the many things we share around the world,

as our passion for watches.

Best regards to you.

René

Mido made some very nice watches, Hermano.

A pity we don't mention this brand more often.

So, thanks for your post and pictures about one of these watches.

Lovely, simple but elegant, what is not to love?

I fell on this one, when walking around my area at a watch dealer's shop, I fell in love with and if I am lucky enough, maybe one day I will get it:

Thanks for wearing and for showing a very different watch, Amigo.

Un abrazo.

Nicolas.

Wow Hermano! That's a nice Diver with decompression chart!!!

Diving bezel, do you know what year was it made?

Thanks for your very kind words mi Hermano, but I think that if I still try to rescue this little nice watches...I still fall in love too easily wink

for me they're worth it, but I'm afraid if I keep this way, I'm gonna take too long to reach important goals,

I have to focus like you and Bill were saying.

Anyway, I really enjoy wearing it, and that also as you say, It's the most important part of this passion.

Un fuerte abrazo desde el corazón, Hermano.

René

No idea about the production year, but I would say early Sixties?

 By: amanico : February 7th, 2012-23:26

Important goals are the goals of our heart, my friend.

And these " small " watches are not to be under appreciated.

It is good to focus on important goals, but you first have to find a definition on what is an important goal FOR YOU.

Is it a friendly complication, is it innovation, is it originality, is it an important historical milestone, is it its value / investment, or simply its Beauty, or,  more complicated, a bit of all?

wink

I would say, but it is just my personal approach, which is, therefore, very hypocrit, go for the important goal first... Then you'll have the time to go on " smaller " watches.

Best, Hermano.

Nicolas

Hermano you know...

That I listen to your advice as a teacher, since I admire your good taste and eye for superb pieces.

I must try not to get lost, and as you say, focus on the important pieces, then go for the smaller.

I guess this passion is a mix (sometimes a confusing mix) of it all that you mention.

It is that somehow I feel fond on this brand since it was my father who gave me two of his dearest watches,

the two of them are Midos, one an early Ocean Star Datoday with lugs for the strap and small in size, the FIRST swiss made watch he bought

with his FIRST pay,

and the other a nice and almost pristine Ocean Star Datoday Chronometer, now called Commander, but mine doesn't say "Commander"

It says "Chronometer", I have to search more info, but I guess It's one of the earlier models, since It's not called Commander as newer ones.

It got to me in very good shape since my father tried to change date close to midnight and it got stuck.

He never got it to repair, he just kept it on a drawer, and that's how it got to my hands very clean.

And that's my history with Midos. I will write a post on them someday.

This new (but older) one was in the hands of the seller of the JLC 469/A, so I got them both.

Thanks for your comment and GOOD advice my dear friend.

Have a nice (although cold I think) morning over beautiful Paris.

With my best regards.

René

Nice "Aeronavale" style bezel, beautiful patina, colorful dial, and in very good condition. A different and rare bird. I like it too.
