Honestly this looks like the first time Hodinkee really sidestepped on this one. I admit that I am sucker for "UBC" (useless but cool) items and when I see something like this my first reaction is; "OK, how much would I pay for this and how do I get this ... 

I think the original hour glass from Newson was at the same price range... this item did not sell at all I think because now they say "from 6000$" which is just a deposit..so a bit misleading as the price is not 6000$..very weird really. I guess they don'... 

I don't want to push the issue but it it is not so much about "Billionaires" (These people did not get there by making stupid decisions). At 12k it is just insane even if you have all the money in the world. Maybe there is a "niche" collectors market for ...

My first thought on seeing the announcement... 'Such nice new clothes you have, Mr. Emperor.' I can get behind a highly priced loupe, high priced straps, even some of the more novel machines produced by a notable independent brand; but this one might have... 

Like many others I'm not adverse to being hooked in with pointless horological bits and bobs but Hodinkee went to far with this one IMO. You showed them though!!! Well done
