I have always viewed VC as making watches in a classical tradition, but
with a stylistic flair that sets them apart from AP and PP. Using fancy
lugs, textured cases and dials, VC's watches stand out. But I always
see the choices VC has made as being driven by a need to make a
beautful watch.
Stepan's style is more avant garde, but he does share a trait with VC
in that he desires to make beautiful watches. I think a lot of
designers, both with the brands and independent of them, are making
provocative watches with little effort to make them beautiful.
