Ebel watch straps unavailable
For a very long time I have been seeking to replace the old worn black sharkskin strap that originally came with my Sports El Primero-powered chronograph, acquired many years ago. The Ebel brand has long diminished where consumables, such as watch straps seem to have become unobtainable. I did manage to buy a couple of unused straps online over the years, but in really unsuitable colours. The straps needed are unique to Ebel because of the case and lug fittings' shape and four small special screws. There are no holes or positioning on the lugs for spring bars.
Suddenly last week I struck lucky and discovered a French trader with a NOS original Ebel strap for sale plus some of the special lug screws. The colour was described as grey, but to me it looks pretty close to black. I ordered it, plus a couple of spare screws in case I should lose one, as usual happens!
Four days later, the strap and screws arrived, having endured couriered delivery through the Brexit boundary with no duty payable! Now fitted and I am happy to spend more time with that watch again. I can see why "grey" was included in the description because there is a trace of the colour.

I will have the same issue in the midterm - I have a Ebel La Carré with the same system. I will need to see how I can get to these straps ans screws…

It was my first mechanical almost 35 years ago and counting….. Top quality , too bad what happened to the brand. Why not look for a bracelet? Grtz,Dom
