This is really a point of persistent controversy (at least, as controversial as this watch collecting thing gets). There was a bit of upset as a result of the richard lange performing slightly poorly (I can't find the old thread). I think that regardless of how much the accuracy matters or doesn't matter, manufacturers should not claim they've made improvements for the sake of accuracy when it results in a more inaccurate watch. 


It would be almost ridiculous to think that a well polished engine in a boutique car should have lower efficiency and less power than an average car, certainly no one would buy it.
I just think this goes to show that manufacturers should go back to the basics and reconsider their chronometric performance before developing yet another polishing technique.
