This is really a point of persistent controversy (at least, as controversial as this watch collecting thing gets). There was a bit of upset as a result of the richard lange performing slightly poorly (I can't find the old thread). I think that regardless of how much the accuracy matters or doesn't matter, manufacturers should not claim they've made improvements for the sake of accuracy when it results in a more inaccurate watch.
It would be almost ridiculous to think that a well polished engine in a boutique car should have lower efficiency and less power than an average car, certainly no one would buy it.
I just think this goes to show that manufacturers should go back to the basics and reconsider their chronometric performance before developing yet another polishing technique.

The (disappointing?) results of the 2013 Concours international de chronométrie
The concours ended with somewhat disappointing results. Interestingly, Tissot beat everyone (and even many of the previous tourbillons) to win the top 2 in the non-tourbillon section. Even more disappointingly only one of the 7 tourbillon entires finished...
the concours itself is disappointing
Lack of interest from the brands, very few contenders, this concours is fading into obscurity. Who really cares about these results? And it is a pity since chronometrie should be the ultimate objective of each and every brand. Fx
Conflict of interest
I think the concours is already exercising tact in only publishing the top 3 results and not mentioning the losers. It's also often argued that accuracy is not important but I think while it's not the only factor, it's still very important. I guess brands...

While it's not exciting that a VERSION of an inexpensive movement has one the contest again, it shows that a lot of what we all love about movements has nothing to do with actually making them more precise timekeepers. Also, as we were discussing recently...

So, in a certain way, you are wrong. But here I agree with you is that accuracy is all about the talent of the Watchmaker in charge of the movement setting. And I have to give kudos to Tissot, here. Best, Nicolas
I remember those results well
now if only they would enter again with their non-tourbillon watches. It's quite impressive that the most affordable tourbillon was also the most accurate (non-exotic) tourbillon.

They did eventually bring the Le Locle chronometer (winner of the 2009 concours) to the market so it'll be interesting to see if that happens with this one. However, the previous watch used a 2824 and this is a different ETA caliber so I'm not sure what'l...

Don't know how the brands are in involved in this concours, but as an open event I guess all of them are free to go there and show what they can do. And of course, accuracy, should be the goal to all of them, that's what this is all about, isn't it? Thank...
Disappointing...?
Maybe, but not surprising! A brand with a rich history as Tissot... Antimagnetic... Automatic... Calendar... Chronograph... Chronometre... And of course, Worldtimer... I realize that it hurts a bit for us who paied a lot more money for a less accuracy... ...

I think I have the pair to your chronograph.
I picked it up for quite a reasonable price some years ago. When it was serviced the watchmaker couldn't identify the movement (fairly young chap). Is it one of the recognized prewar ébauches or something they developed themselves? ...

The positive lesson here is...
that you do not need a lot money to buy a stellar performing piece. Indeed, you need very little actually. So if you are for chronometric value, forget all these coaxials, silicons, constant forces etc and buy something proven . This once more demonstrate...
