Quality control
How is it even possible? That is what I have asked myself. From the 13 (new from AD) watches I bought the past 5 years, 3 of them broke down within weeks after purchase. That means that 23% was (a sort of) DOA. That is a staggaring number. Imagine 23% of all new cars from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Maserati and the likes would brake down within weeks after delivery. Heads would role. And in the watch industry? A dead silence. You will get your watch back after a (too long) period of time without a decent explanation what happened and hardly any form of excuse.
Now I'm not saying that my 23% is a benchmark number, so I'm very interested what the real number of failures is. Do we know? Is there an independent institute collecting data? If not; why not? There is not much consumer protection regarding issues like this in the watch industry is there? Why isn't there a watch TÜV / MOT giving us an independent insight in the quality of sold watches?
Service
Very good question that is not being asked often and hard enough to the manufacturers. Why does it take so long? Surely it must be possible getting a watch back within 1 - 2 months? I mean; you (manufacturer) know how many you produce, so you also now how many you have to service in a year.... And if I see the luxurious facilities the manufacturers have there is plenty of money to organise a proper servicing department...
Now enough with the moaning

sun is shining, life is good! Wearing my former DOA and love having it on the wrist!
