Balance and courage
Jan 16, 2020,22:53 PM
The admiration for those things that are (just) out of reach may lead to desire and desire will lead to motivation to seek ways of acquiring what you want. If it remains out of reach, and admiration and desire are in balance, it will stay there peacefully until one of the variables changes.
This applies to virtually all aspects in life and actually is a pretty big driver in how we developed as human beings which is not a bad thing but positive.
However if desire doesn’t bring the positive result it may also turn into obsession, obsession may lead to destructive behavior and blindness for others and their needs. This is bad.
So yes I largely agree with your philosophy and as some people hi ted at stability is what we ultimately strive for.
But secondly I would like to say that, in the event you would be a married man, you’re a courageous man as well.
You applied the thesis not only to watches but to women as well.
Now if I would write that the one (rad woman) I desire I cannot have I’m already dead coz apparently my wife is Econ’s choice. Your next sentence is even more courageous by stating that the result d Kate’s often very much from what was desired.
That’s suicide haha

Only way is to control own desires and willingness to settle. I understand very clearly I cannot have everything and anything so I’ve learned to let go. Always my challenge, if a very nice item can be bought everywhere or selling at discounted price, nega...

That watch is not perfect beacuse it's handmade

And perfect is a slippery slope as you pile on more requirements. But doesn't stop us from reaching for them. Besides.... "the best things in life are already free. It's just the second best things are very, very expensive." Just be content when you feel ...
As with so many things, high-end audio, cars, etc.

The incremental few % (say from 95% "perfect" to 99% "perfect"...whatever that means) costs many multiples as much. The second-best things are indeed very, very expensive.

Luxury goods in general invert the usual laws of supply and demand: the higher the price (or more constrained the supply), the greater the demand. Crazy human nature.
