With Basel and SIHH behind us and the 2016 novelties not yet ready for delivery, June, July and August are typically the 'slow' months for the horological enthusiasts. Not to worry - the auction houses such as Christies, Sotheby, Philips and Antiquorum came to the rescue with their 'Spring' auctions. The good news (for the bidders) is that the market is exceptionally slow as a result of which, I was able to acquire several pieces on the low side of the estimates:
First on stage is the AMOVX 2 in platinum, limited to 100 pieces. The hammer price is...well....a steal 
Funnily, I used to own one in titanium but found it too light and have parted with it some years ago... Using the case as a trigger for the chronograph function is truly remarkable.

The second one is a lovely piece - Cartier Pasha semi-skeletonized tourbillon in white gold. Only 10 pieces are made with a solid gold Cartier logo in the dial center. Correct me if I am wrong - there are 10 similar pieces with a blue-enamel logo and another 10 pieces featuring bars in white gold. They all house fabulous movements identical to the ones used in GP's golden bridges.... All in all, a great piece on the wrist.
This is PAM 46 - the GMT alarm Radiomir in white gold, limited to 60 pieces and produced in 1999, to be distinguished from PAM 98, which has a similar design but housed in a larger steel case (42 mm as opposed to 40 mm). The watch is a great fit on my small wrist
Unfortunately I failed to lay my hands on the PAM 65 (platinum big date)
As well as the popular and coveted PAM 67 (zerograph)
Nevertheless, the PAM 46 joins my small family of Panerais....PAM 80 Independent....
And the PAM 192 tantalum chronograph
The fourth acquisition is the Piaget Black Tie Emperador Tourbillon in white gold, a rather dressy piece. I have since sent it for servicing and for a custom-made new strap

But not me. This AMVOX was not on my radar screen but since I could get it at a bargain price, so I thought....what the hell.... Too bad, the titanium was such a good looking piece... ...
Amvox II, Zerograph, and Pam 192. These are three superb pieces.
I owned the 192 and still wonder why I let it go... The Zerograph, I always loved it. Cool and refined piece. As for the Amvox II, no secret that it is one of my favorite modern JLC. I own it, in platinum, but the first version. The weight is not an issue...
The PAM 192 must weigh a ton.

Yes, it is on the heavy side but just right for me. I acquired the 192 ages ago....
It is a limited production of 300 pieces. Inevitably a few pieces appeared in recent auctions and fetched between USD15,000 and USD 20,000.

At one point, I have over a dozen pieces of the brand, then Nicholas advised me to focus on the older models... The tourbillons are selling at a fraction of their original prices and are thus huge bargains. This kind of make me feel good :P I am sure you ...
