Unfortunately, the plural of anecdotes is not evidence.
For out-of-the-box accuracy, who can say?
But I would hazard that any reasonable quality watch, if given the correct attention of a caring watchmaker can be made extremely accurate. Particularly on the wrist.
My anecdote: My old Omega Auto (cal 562, nothing Chronometer about it, either) is the most accurate mechanical watch I have. It is also the movement I have spent most time attempting to get right on-the-wrist (snap-back cases help here!)
My confession: I am not an accuracy freak. I don't use winders, so as long as the watch remains reasonably accurate before I swap it for the next one, I am content. Also, half the watches I own are vintage and non-hacking, furthermore many have rather thick hands, making the accuracy less than the resolution of the hands to the dial.
