Hi Andrew, It was due for a service... but that was an interesting article you referred to re crystal failures. I asked my wife if she could remember bumping the watch and she said that she did bump it on a granite bench, but that was about a week before.... 

I started out buying ladies watches for myself, but graduated quickly to men's watches. A few nice ones.... Best, Ginger...

It is small, but so perfect. And these grandmother's eyes can read the time without aid. It was my first real watch purchase, in memory of my mother who never would spend on herself and had her teeny weeny Elgin repaired over and over again for fifty year... 

That looks simple and nice. Could be something for the wifey in future.
