Accutrons are one of the few watches...
...I actually thought I knew a lot about until my long conversation with Eric Grafton. I still knew much, but he is one of those few who, as a repairer, thoroughly understands the nuances of this watch. More than anyone i have ever come across.
Had no idea that the reason some watches run fast with a 1.5 volt battery is because of a combination of an old style coil with a newer tuning fork.
Another tidbit. Running a hotter battery (1.5 rather than the 1.3 mercury that originally came with it) does not affect the watch or its components in any way. They will run perfectly 1.2 -1.9
if adjusted properly.

Astronauts are on my perpetual watch list. My 218 just recently received a new battery...had some problems with the second hand turning but the hour/min hand staying still. Worked out it was to do with the stem position. Played with the weights on the end...
