Looks like an early ref 105.001 with an original crown and possibly strap this time . . .

. . . but also a refinished dial. This is a more difficult issue to redress than a crown. Occasionally dials with gold furniture will appear on eBay after their gold cases have been scrapped, but steel dials? Practically never. This will be a long and lik...

It actually is a silver dial

Just bad lighting in the photo

The color of the dial may be silver (or white); the point I was trying to make . . .

. . . is that it's been refinished. Or, in other words, not as originally delivered by Omega. Bringing this one up to original condition will require an original replacement. Omega no longer supplies service dials for this reference, so essentially you'll...

What leads you to the conclusion that the dial is refinished

I must admit I know little to nothing about this brand

Please compare this dial . . .

[photo credit: chronomania] . . . to your sister's. There are obvious differences in both script and layout. ...

Agreed - that one is . . .

. . . refinished. The small 's' in 'Seamaster' is one give-away. Authentic black 105.001 and .004s are few and far between. Good eye, Edward!

Or compare to this one

Exquisite example! . . .

Yes posted this watch a number of times here. A pcs that will always be part of my collection. Ed

Thanks, Rishad! . . .

. . . that dial really is pretty awful . . . we can only hope EinPa finds a replacement. A tatty original would be better. Art

Finding an original dial could take years . . .

. . . if not forever. You may need to find a donor watch with a compromised movement to harvest a dial if one can't be found separately. Art

eagle eyes, as always [nt]
